Born in San Diego, Ballast Point Brewing Co. seeks opportunities that positively impact the lives of those in need in our own hometown. We strive to promote a more united society, reinforced by a deeper understanding and appreciation of inclusivity and equality. Through our regained spirit of independence, we aim to bring people of diverse cultures and perspectives together over the shared love of great beer.

This year, we’re launching something we feel is much needed. We are proud to promote diversity within our industry by introducing the annual “Brewing for Diversity” scholarship. The recipient will be chosen by the scholarship committee consisting of members from Ballast Point, UC San Diego, and the San Diego Brewers Guild Inclusion Committee. The scholarship will grant underrepresented students with the funds and tools they need to participate successfully in UC San Diego Extension’s Brewing Certificate Program.

Each annual recipient will also have the opportunity to intern at Ballast Point to gain real-world insight into brewery production and operations and to become well-equipped with the skills and knowledge to enter the industry professionally.
